At Latin Roots, our class levels are called Stages. Completely new? Start in Foundations. Already danced Salsa or Bachata? Start with an Introductory Session and we’ll place you in the right Stage.

Every Stage is 90 minutes and includes both Salsa + Bachata — 45 minutes of each.

Before You Start

Common questions

A few simple answers before you choose your starting point and take the next step into the academy.

I am completely new. Where should I start?
Start with Foundations. It is the starting Stage for complete beginners, with Salsa and Bachata taught from the beginning with clear guidance, structure and support.
I have danced before. Should I book Stage 2, 3 or 4 directly?
If you already have Salsa or Bachata experience but are new to Latin Roots, start with an Introductory Session. You do not need to choose your own Stage — we will guide you toward the most suitable place in the academy pathway.
Do I need a partner?
No. You are very welcome to come on your own. Our classes are structured so you can learn and train comfortably without bringing a partner.
Do I choose Salsa or Bachata?
No. Every Stage is 90 minutes and includes both Salsa + Bachata, so you learn both as part of the same academy experience.
What does “Stage” mean at Latin Roots?
Stages are how we organise the learning journey through the academy. They help show where you are in your development without turning progression into a race. Complete beginners start in Foundations; dancers with previous experience begin through an Introductory Session so we can guide them into the right Stage.
