Before you join us

Do I need to be a Latin Roots member?

No. The Latin Roots Social is open to guests, friends, past students, current students, and dancers from the wider Edinburgh scene. Active Latin Roots members should book their member pass through their GymDesk profile.

Do I need a partner?

No. You do not need to bring a partner. Many people come on their own, and social dancing is built around dancing with different people throughout the night.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. You are very welcome to come on your own. Our team will be there, and the room is designed to feel open, friendly, and easy to join.

Do I pay online?

No. Joining the Guest List online is free. Your pass is sent by email, and you pay Guest List Entry at the door when you arrive.

What music will be played?

The night is focused on Salsa and Bachata social dancing, with music chosen to keep the room moving and enjoyable for dancers.

Where is Shanghai Club?

Shanghai Club is inside Le Monde Hotel at 16a George Street, Edinburgh City Centre. It is central and easy to reach by bus, tram, train, or taxi. There is also plenty of nearby on-street parking, which is free from 6:30pm.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable that you can move in. Flat shoes or dance shoes are best. Avoid shoes that are too grippy, heavy, or difficult to turn in.
